A couple of years ago my family and I went on a 5-week road trip. We drove to various national parks from the Badlands, to the Tetons and Yellowstone, to the majestic Redwoods. During that time I removed Instagram from my phone and intentionally stayed off my phone as much as possible. We did so many morning hikes, enjoying the soft glow of the sun as it peaked through the trees. We listened to the wildlife wake up and sing us their song. In the Redwoods we found the perfect camping site nestled in a wooded area away from the rest of the campsites. My name is Stephen Dorr, and I am a local self-taught artist painting primarily whimsical wildlife and nature scenes. My favorite medium is oil paint. My family and I love taking road trip adventures to national and state parks, which is where much of my inspiration comes from.

I shared that I wanted a mountain scene with red poppies with some other elements that would add to a Lord of the Rings sort of feel. I feel like he knocked it out of the park with the river, the deer, the island & boulders - it's now a focal point in my office!
